I love Country Music.
I *may* have mentioned it before!
When you think of Country Music, you may think that the songs are about losing your dog, your house or your other half.
Quite often, you’d be absolutely correct!
However, as someone who is passionate about the harnessing the power of emotional storytelling to take people from adversity to excitement, what I love most about the genre is that it tells the comeback story.
It champions the underdog.
It delivers real stories, real words, real messages – as Harlan Howard so beautifully puts it – ‘three chords and the truth’.
One of my favourite modern-day artists is the wonderful Ashley McBryde.
Her track ‘Girl goin’ nowhere’ is one of the tracks that I play before I speak at any event – to raise my state, to tap into peak energy.
Music is powerful.
This track, in particular, tells the story of how she started out playing the guitar in her small town home – only to be told ‘you are wasting your life’.
She then went on to play the bars, the clubs – to be told ‘that’s not a job’.
When she reaches the radio waves – people were telling her that they would take her back home ‘when she crashed and burned’.
Yet, she persevered.
When I first saw Ashley play – it was at the O2 Arena in London.
She had turned up in the UK – in a country she had never been to before – struck a chord – her band fired up – the lights came up – and she turned around to see not one empty chair.
People chanting her name – singing her lyrics, word for word – all there to see her.
The only way you’ll prove the doubters wrong is by achieving massive success.
In life, in business – you’ll have people say that you can’t do this, that you are something that you are not, that you cannot walk that path that YOU want to walk.
At best, it’s their opinion.
At worst, it will hold you back from achieving anything you want to achieve in life – personally and professionally.
In Ashley’s words ‘It took a whole lot of I don’t knows and yes I wills’ to reach where she is today.
Don’t allow those who don’t have any dreams – to take yours away.
Check this amazing track out here – thank me later!
